We’re both getting ready to head off on our summer vacations, which has us in packing and preparation mode!  Whether your summer vacation entails a relaxing trip to the beach or an international adventure, packing can be an overwhelming task.  Where to start?  How not to overpack? We decided to share some Redress tips & tricks for vacation packing to get you going!  (P.S. We’ll be taking a vacation from the blog for a few weeks, but not to worry….we’ll be back in mid August with fresh posts to get you ready for fall!)

Redress tips for easy packing….

Vacay Versatility : Choose pieces you can work in multiple ways to avoid packing multiple outfits per day.  Pack long tunics and easy dresses you can wear as beach coverups or out to dinner.  Metallic sandals can double as daytime casual and dinner time dressy!  They also go with just about anything so no need to bring a different shoe for every outfit. Denim cut-offs can be worn with a tank and sandals for daytime exploring, and paired with a silky top and heels for a night on the town.

Accessories You Can Make the Most of: We always say accessories are the easiest way to change your look and complete an outfit!  A statement necklace can transform a beach coverup to a dinner dress.  A scarf can cover up your bikini bottoms and be worn at the neck with a breezy little summer dress.  Again, don’t worry about packing a different necklace for every outfit….pick one or two versatile pieces that look great with any outfit.

Try it On: If you’re like me, you like to have options.  If I only bring one outfit, often times I am frustrated when I get there and am not happy with my choice!  This can then lead to overpacking when you start throwing several pieces in your bag thinking, “I’ll just bring all of these tops and decide what to wear when I get there”.  How to avoid this dilemma?  Try on your outfits before you pack them!  Yes it takes a little bit more time, but you’ll pack lighter and more efficiently if you put the whole look together and know you feel good in it.

Carry On: A bag for the beach, your purse, your wallet, clutches for night time….you’ll be on bag overload!  All you need is 2 bags….a tote, and a clutch.  Put your small valuables (id/credit cards, money, phone, lipgloss) in your clutch, and toss the clutch in your tote.  The tote will be your city or beach bag during the day to carry your camera, snacks, magazines & books, etc…  No need for multiple bags!
