Fall Trend: Sporty

As we continue to feature the newest and biggest trends of the season, we are seeing a big shift that fashion in general is taking this fall.  While the last year has brought us ultra feminine details & silhouettes like lace, peplum, peter pan collars, and ladylike looks; this season has brought on a whole new edge.  Literally!  Much of the trend we’re seeing has an air of masculinity or androgyny, often with a tough, edgy feel.  Today we highlight the Sporty look, which we are seeing across all brands, price points and designers.  What we love most about this trend is the ability to mix it with feminine or unexpected pieces for look full of personality.

TOPS:

Raglan tees, graphic & numbered tees, ‘dressed-up’ sweatershirts and tops with sweat details.  Throw them on with skinnies and a blazer or even pair with a flouncy skirt and a cardigan.  These tops don’t have to be reserved for your weekend sweats.

KNIT/SLOUCHY/TRACK PANTS

We featured them in one of our transition time posts, and they are in line with overall Sporty look.  The key is mix them with feminine pieces, or give yourself shape with a great fitting, half-tucked slubby t-shirt.  Wear them with flats instead of sneaks…go for the unexpected.  The bonus is, they are super comfy!

VARSITY JACKETS

AKA bomber jackets.  They’re novel and fun and have tons of personality.  A great fall jacket to layer over sweaters or a t-shirt and scarf.

SNEAKERS

Take advantage of this moment in time when comfy sneakers are having a fashion moment!  They have a skater-girl, laid back kind of vibe.  Pairing them with skinny jeans & feminine tops or even flirty skirts keeps them feeling girly.
