I know it may sound crazy, but I ALWAYS start shopping for swimwear in the winter each year! Even though I potentially won’t be wearing the swimsuits for months (with the exception of spring break vacations!), I like to check out the swim trends and have a good selection of swimwear with sizes FULLY STOCKED. Because I ultimately buy a swimsuit based on fit, I like to have my choice when it comes to what I buy. I do not want purchase something out of pure necessity (and availability) at the last minute even though I may not feel my best in it. My favorite resources for swimwear are actually online: Shopbop, Anthropologie, J.Crew, and Zappos (or even 6pm – Zappos’ discount website for a good deal!). I like to buy online because I often by several suits and try them on in the privacy of my home, and return what doesn’t work.
We’re headed to Florida for spring break in a few weeks, so I’m glad I started my swimsuit search already! Here are some of the swim trends and my favorite suits out there so far.
One Piece
The one pieces have come so far in the past few years! I love the details they have this year: in addition to following the spring trend of bright color and rainbows (this one! and this one!), there are a ton of off the shoulder details (this one and this one), lace-up details (love this one and this one), cut out details (I’ve posted before about my love of this one, and also love this one) and wrap details (I’ve had this one and it’s so flattering and comfortable!). Here are some more:
High Waisted
This category deserved its own description, because I love that it’s still in style. I bought one last year, unsure of how I’d feel in it, and it ended up being my favorite suit! (The top looks like it’s not continued this year but it’s this bottom – SUCH a good deal if you’re not sure about the trend, like I was!). Now there are so many options, in both solids and patterns (love the pattern on this one, and the rainbow pattern on this one!) as well as offering details on tops such as ruffles (this!) and off the shoulder (this!). What I ended up loving most about my high waisted suit was that it provided pretty good coverage while offering the ease and comfort of a two piece. Perfect for running around after kids at the pool!
