Spring weather SHOULD be here soon (come on, Ohio weather!!!), which means retiring our sweaters, jeans and boots for the season! In anticipation of sunshine and warmer days, I went through my own spring and summer clothes in my closet this weekend.
Like I always do for my clients, I start off the season taking inventory of my closet, and come up with a shopping list. No time or room in my closet for impulse buys!
First I look at my basics to see what needs updated, and then I move onto trend items. I went through my shorts, tops, dresses, shoes and accessories to see what needed replacing, and then looked at my calendar to see if I had any special events that I would need to shop for. Here’s what I came up with.
*I already bought these shorts and added these to my list.
*My t-shirts looked to be in pretty good shape (I have several of these and these, and bought this t-shirt already because I love the color).
*I need to update some of my “nice” tops, that can be worn with white denim for dressier occasions. I love anything lace or eyelet, especially for summer! This top, this top, and this top are all perfect!
*I LOVE wearing dresses all spring and summer, so am always on the lookout for cute, casual (and easily washable, because: kids) dresses to wear during the day. I found this, this, this and this so far! And I always find cute options at Madewell.
*I don’t have many occasions to really dress up this summer, but do have some ballet recitals, piano and viola concerts, and other events on my calendar this spring. This dress, this dress, and this dress would all be great options! Maybe this if something fancier comes up. 🙂
*My heels and wedges will all last another season (I did already update my wedges with these), but flat sandals are my go-to shoes during the spring and summer, and they usually only last a season or two. I’m looking at these (in white) for every day wear, and these (in bright pink!) for pool days!
*I love that big, lightweight earrings are still around for spring and summer – such a fun and easy way to update my outfit! I have my eye on these and these.
*My pool tote is several seasons old and starting to break. It is a turquoise Mar Y Sol tote, and I have loved it, so would be glad to update it with another one! Maybe one with bright colors like this.
